Gerhard Pfeifer receives the State Medal of the Bavarian Economy

In her laudation, Ilse Aigner praised not only Gerhard Pfeifer's success in developing the traditional family company, Pfeifer Seil- und Hebetechnik GmbH, into an important, globally active company in the areas of wire rope technology, connecting and lifting systems, lifting technology and cable structures with around 1,400 employees, but also that he has always remained true to his home town of Memmingen.

As chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Memmingen and Lower Allgaeu regional assembly since 2001 and Vice-President and Deputy President of the Swabian Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 2009, Gerhard Pfeifer is committed to the fostering of a flourishing economy in the Memmingen and Lower Allgaeu region. An outstanding example of this is Allgaeu Airport, to whose realisation he made a significant contribution.

"You invest in domestic production and have continually expanded the production site in Memmingen", stressed the Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs and emphasised that Gerhard Pfeifer is regarded as "one of the mentors of the Memmingen and Lower Allgaeu region and also Bavarian Swabia", whose voice carries weight in all regional politically important topics such as the promotion of tourism, the structural political cooperation in the Allgaeu, the dual apprenticeship or the strengthening of the universities.
